Frequently Asked Questions

  • What subjects can I write about?

In short, anything and everything related to personal finance. Take a look at our community topics in the sidebar along with recently submitted, already approved articles to get an idea on the sort of thing which will be accepted. Useful, informative and well thought out ideas will be accepted most of the time. However; we will typically refuse new spins on existing articles so be sure to check if a subject has been covered previously in one of our other community articles. You will see from already approved submissions that we prefer list-style articles. We find out readers prefer these over long drawn out and ultimately boring reads.

  • Is there a minimum word count?

We have set a minimum word count of 1000 words. We feel that this is the minimum requirement for a well-written informative article. Although most of the articles we receive tend to be in excess of 2000 words. Generally speaking, the longer the better but don't feel the need to repeat yourself or use 10 word when in reality, 2 will do! All articles are read from start to finish and we'll only accept ones which we feel will benefit our readers so please keep that in mind.

  • Can I include links to other websites?

We allow links to other websites within community articles providing the websites linked to are 1) of a high quality/standard and 2) back up the point you're making or referring to in your article submission. We typically don't allow links to authors own websites within the articles themselves and articles that are blatantly designed for self promotion won't be accepted. We also reserve the right to strip out any links we feel don't match the above criteria or if the site you're referring to however useful and supportive is of a low quality overall.

  • How and when do I get paid?

Once your article has been received, if approved it will be added to the website within 48 hours. Once the article is live we'll issue a payment via PayPal. At weekends and during bank holidays, payment times may be slightly be slower so please bare that in mind. We will liase with you over e-mail to discuss your article submission during which time we'll also collect your PayPal e-mail address for payment processing.

  • Can I submit multiple article ideas?

Absolutely! The more ideas you submit the higher the chance of something coming up that interests us. It's always best to submit your idea before going ahead and producing the content as we want to avoid duplicates and even though it's finance related, there are some subjects which are simply not a good fit for our community. There is no limit to how many articles you can submit and have featured and it's not uncommon for people to submit several ideas and for us to want all of them producing! So whatever you're thinking, run it by us, we can only say no!
