Lloyds Bank (Lloydsbank.com) is one of the UK’s largest retail banks, with over 16 million personal and small business accounts on its books. Lloyds Bank is also a major supplier of mortgages to UK homebuyers, with a range of different mortgages available to suit a wide variety of customers.

The Lloyds Bank website offers customers plenty of guidance on the mortgaging process, how to go about applying for their mortgage and calculators to help customers work out how much they might be able to borrow. The amount available through a mortgage is generally set through an assessment process that takes into consideration the customer’s income, outgoing expenses, age, credit record and the value of the property they hope to purchase.

Customers can apply for a mortgage from Lloyds Bank by booking an appointment with a mortgage advisor at their local Lloyds Bank branch, calling to apply over the phone or beginning the application online. Customers can’t receive detailed advice and information from the online application process, so an advisor will call back to continue by phone.

Lloyds Bank is a provider of several government-backed mortgages, including mortgages of up to 95% loan to value for customers who qualify for the Help to Buy Mortgage Guarantee Scheme. The bank also supports the government’s Help To Buy Equity Loan Scheme for qualifying customers.

Lloyds Bank aso offers a range of traditional mortgage options, with fixed rate, tracker rate, and standard variable rate mortgages available to first time buyers and those moving home. Different rates are also available for customers who already hold an account with Lloyds Bank, and first time buyers looking for a little help to get their foot on the property ladder.

Lloyds Bank does not provide a conveyancing service, so after the customer’s mortgage application has been approved and completed, they will have to access a licensed convenyancer to complete the legal transfer of ownership of the new property.

Loads of bureaucracy was what I expected to encounter when applying for my first mortgage and I was right.

Some of the banks I went to asked the most ridiculous questions and needless to say, I was turned down in the most diplomatic of ways.
I have a steady job and have had for the last 25 years. I'm 46 years old and I think that this was the problem.

I'm enjoying my 2nd marriage and felt that now was the time to own our own house.
Thank you Lloyds Bank for understanding that being 46 doesn't make me an old man that will drop dead before the loan is paid.

It was easy to overcome this issue as the bank suggested we take out the mortgage over 15 years instead of 20, as we are 2 paying the mortgage, not just one.
It helped that my wife earns a very good income.
It shows you that with guidance, anyone can get a loan when dealing with professionals.

I'm paying 4% interest on my mortgages with Lloyds. This is on a house purchase of £500,000 with a £125,000 deposit. The advisor (Andrew) who sorted it all for me was excellent, so much so that I put my sister in contact with him to sort a mortgage for another property just up the street from my new one.

I do find transactions like these awfully boring but Andrew made it as pain free as possible. I love my new house and don't intend moving again, ever. But if I did I'd happily use Natwest again. I much prefer using a company that have actual business addresses too... I know if there is a problem I can walk into a bank branch and speak to a real human rather than be forced into talking to foreign call centre workers.

I got a Help to Buy mortgage through Lloyds bank a few months back and wanted to write in to praise the bank for their hard work and the individual care they show to each customer.

I went to a few different banks and was turned away because I didn’t have a large enough deposit saved up to get a mortgage on a home. I was desperate to finally own my own home and stop giving all of my money to landlords so I kept trying- Lloyds Bank was my last stop of the big UK banks and to my relief they actually sat down with me and gave me a chance. I had a 5% deposit and a decent credit score so they offered me a Help to Buy mortgage and assisted me in completing the application. I got frequent texts telling me how the application was coming on and after just two weeks of suspenseful waiting I found out that the application was successful.

I’ve always had the goal of owning my own home and thanks to Lloyds Bank it’s finally a reality. I’m so incredibly grateful and excited. A special thank you to my adviser, Tom, who guided me through the whole process and was so great.
