Nationwide (Nationwide.co.uk) is a building society with 160 years of history behind it, and the highest number of high street branches of any building society in the UK. The recipient of multiple awards of customer service and banking facilities, Nationwide has an ongoing commitment to the financial health of its many members. Nationwide is also one of the top three mortgage providers in the UK. Customers can apply for a mortgage from Nationwide online, over the phone, by post, at a local Nationwide branch or through a specialised broker.

Nationwide has many special deals and offers for first time buyers, including discounted product fees, low 5% deposit deals, cashback rewards and extra legal help with the buying process, along with special ‘Flexclusive’ mortgages. Nationwide’s Flexclusive mortgages are available for customers who already hold a main current account with the building society.

Nationwide also offers Buy to Let mortgages through its associated specialist lender, The Mortgage Works, along with special mortgage deals for customers looking to switch over to a new mortgage. Customers looking to remortgage their home can switch to Nationwide for exclusive offers and mortgages of up to 85% loan to value ratios.

The building society offers all of its customers a conveyancing service- the Nationwide Conveyancing Service, which gives them direct contact with a conveyancer at all time to help secure their property deal.

Nationwide has a number of different mortgages to suit various property values and borrowing needs. A wide range of fixed rate mortgages are available for customers who want to stick with a set rate and payment plan through the term of their mortgage. If you’d prefer to capitalise on the potentially lower Bank of England base rate, Nationwide has plenty of tracker mortgages on offer, many of which have no early repayment charges and low product fees.

I felt that I did not get the right help when i needed it most at the time. The customers service was of very little help. i always felt that I was a nuisance when wanting help. I am selling my house now that I love because i do not want to but feel that I have to because of any unavoidable circumstances that might in the future occurs. Nationwide has been the worst mortgage provider that i ever had.I lived in fear for not being able to pay my mortgage due to the worst scenario of being ill. My health has been affected with the worry of not being able to pay my mortgage. I would not recommend Nationwide to my worst enemy.

My dad died recently and for various reasons I decided that my mum should come and live with me. However, I only have a one bedroom flat and me sleeping on the couch in the living room could not become a regular thing if I was to do my poor back any favours.

So I decided to get a mortgage to be able to afford a two bedroom flat that was for sale in the same block where I lived and because my original mortgage was with Nationwide I just went with them. better the devil you know and all that.

But the fact is the Nationwide were able to offer me the ideal mortgage and because I was already a customer of theirs they were able to complete the whole mortgage process far quicker than if I had gone to someone else.

I got a buyer for my one bed flat in no time because I live near a University and one bed flats are like gold dust. And fortunately the two bedroom flat was still available so I quickly put in an offer on that which was accepted.

The move is next week and it couldn't come a minute too soon because my back really can't take anymore nights on my sagging couch.

Nationwide really was on my side when I took out my fixed rate mortgage with them recently. I had never owned my own property before and this was all very new to me but with the very affordable mortgage I got from them and with the help of their Nationwide Conveyancing Service my house purchase went through without too much stress.

I know they say that moving house is one of the most stressful things you will do in your lifetime but if my experience is anything to go by I think that must be a bit of an exaggeration. Divorce and meeting the grim reaper must surely be in a whole different league because moving house for me was quite a nice experience although I wouldn't be in a hurry to do it again any time soon.
