The 6 Best (and Cheapest) Destinations for a Stag Do

As your friend’s best man, you’ve got a big responsibility on your shoulders.

It’s up to you to make sure that your pal not only makes it down the aisle in one piece but that he also gets the opportunity for one last major blow-out before he “puts a ring on it.”

If you’re looking for an opportunity to get out of town for a few days to celebrate those last moments of freedom, there are plenty of fun, low-cost destinations scattered around Europe. Here, we’re going to count down some of the must-visit locations for partying you can visit, without breaking the bank.

1. Albufeira, Portugal

Albufeira is probably the ultimate stag do destination thanks to low-cost flights, an incredible beach and plenty of amazing experiences to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for an opportunity to explore some of Portugal’s caves around the coast, or you’re dying for a game of paintball in the scorching sun, you’ll find it all with an Albufeira stag do.

On the Strip, you’ll find just about everything you could want within walking distance, including award-winning restaurants, bars packed ready to supply you with booze, and more. The great news is that most of the clubs on the Strip are also run by expats from the UK, so you’ll have no trouble speaking the language.

2. Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Amsterdam is another of the best-known destinations for stag dos. A location called “The Dam” is sure to have everything you need for an unforgettable weekend, though we won’t go too far into what you can expect to see at the Red-Light District. Despite some questionable associations over the years, Amsterdam is actually a really friendly and beautiful city.

If the groom you’re celebrating isn’t the kind of guy who likes to go insane on the weekend, you can enjoy Amsterdam without any of the extravagance. There are plenty of nightclubs to explore, and cheap hotels too. Just remember that it’s easy to get lost here, so make sure you have GPS on your phone.

3. Riga, Latvia

Riga is one of the cheapest locations for weekend breaks in Europe, and it’s packed full of classic experiences for the stag do. Whether you’re looking for a place to drink your cares away, or you feel like going a little bit more traditional with a tavern crawl, Riga has it all.

One point to remember is that Latvia isn’t always the warmest place in the world, for if you’re looking for sea and sunshine, you may need to venture elsewhere. However, you can get around 10 pints of beer for £16, and there’s plenty of stunning architecture to explore too!

4. Barcelona, Spain

If you’re looking for a way to add some extra class to your friend’s pre-marriage celebration, then it’s hard to go wrong with a trip to the sunny shores of Barcelona. There are plenty of things to do and see in this incredible party town, just be careful to watch out for pickpockets – particularly if you’ve had a few drinks, as some malicious people will specifically target stag groups.

There are plenty of excursions out of Barcelona that you can check out for a pretty low price too if you feel like taking a look at the other things that Spain has to offer.

5. Ibiza, Spain

Another fantastic party destination in Spain, Ibiza is the perfect place to go on a Stag do if you want sun, sea, and women in bikinis. Ibiza is probably the best-known destination in Europe for its party spirit. However, the all-action, all-the-time vibe can be a little too much for some stag do parties to handle, so think carefully about how wild you want your weekend to be.

If you don’t mind letting it all hang loose, then the best time to go for a stag do in Ibiza is when there’s a local festival like Amnesia or Ibiza Rocks to explore.

6. Edinburgh

Finally, if you’re looking for somewhere a little closer to home, and the thought of a night out in Newcastle fills you with dread, you can get a great stag do experience in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. There are countless fantastic pubs to explore, and the people are incredibly friendly too, so you’re sure to have a fun time wherever you end up.

Check out some of the most popular pub crawls online and plan your route in advance if you really want to see everything that the city has to offer.
